What We Believe
If you’re like us then you’ll believe that if we really want to impact the
environment, then first and foremost, it’s our responsibility as
individuals.
It’s glaringly obvious, we can’t rely on governments or big businesses to
make the necessary changes for us.
So we start with consciousness of the situation and make small
positive changes in our daily habits. To choose where and with
which companies we want to spend our money for the right reasons.
The following points serve to explain further what we believe and why we’re
doing this, later on, you’ll see links to reach out to us and share your
thoughts too, we’d love to hear from you…

On our website you’ll find full ingredient lists, and independent lab reports to verify our ingredients. So you can see exactly what goes into the process and make sure that you’re happy with everything it contains.

Open communication to us means not only being clear about how we make our products and what they contain but also listening to you as our customers. We’re trying to build a business that really matches your needs and wants.

Awareness of environmental impact
We hardly need reminding of the current situation we face when it comes to the environment.
Not only do we see daily the effects of climate change and environmental degradation, but we are also increasingly aware of microplastics found in our aquatic animals and food chain.
The effects of the products we are using in our daily lives mean increasing health problems such as allergies, asthma, hormonal imbalances, and many other serious diseases.
Plastics
Plastic is one of the major contributing factors, whether that be landfill, ocean plastic waste, and microplastics.
In the UK alone we (rather conservatively) estimate that 30 million plastic laundry detergent bottles/boxes go into landfill every year, that’s just insane, and that’s just related to laundry detergents let alone anything else!
Most people are also unaware that microplastics are often present in traditional laundry detergents also, that includes powder and liquid-based detergents.
Our laundry sheets and their packaging are highly compact, light, plastic-free, biodegradable, and save you buying at least one or two large plastic detergent bottles, or several plastic laundry pod boxes each time. They are also free of microplastics.
Carbon footprint
Whilst a few big manufacturers finally make small steps towards reducing plastic from laundry detergent packaging, there is also the consideration of the carbon footprint of these products, from manufacture to delivery to our shops and homes.
One of the major issues with traditional detergents is the amount of water that's used in the product and the size and weight of the product.
Water can make up to 70% of the total weight of the detergent. That’s 100’s of millions of unnecessarily heavy detergent packs being shipped around the country each year, creating a massive carbon footprint.
Our ultra-concentrated waterless laundry sheets put an end to that, with a product that’s over 10X lighter and therefore much more eco-friendly.

One of the reasons we created The Good Laundry eco-detergent sheets is because of the major lifestyle and health problems we noticed were being ignored by major manufacturers.

Dermatitis.
Other skin allergies
Asthma
Hormonal imbalances
Factors in other serious diseases
In the UK 44% of adults already suffer from at least one allergy, many of us aren’t aware of the adverse health effects of our everyday products.
Allergies due to detergents are mainly because of parabens and dye used in them. So if you see parabens present in the ingredients list of the detergent products you buy, chances are they’re high in allergens.

Our sheets are hypo-allergenic, and safer for your family and pets as they are made with natural ingredients and are toxin-free, including paraben-free, phthalate-free and BPA-free. Instead, we use natural (and just as effective) replacement ingredients from soapnuts, coconut extracts, and bio-enzymes.
